I want to build up two new chassis, first one for priority is my multi spreader (fertilizer spreader) at the moment it is mounted on an old truck chassis out of a single axel dodge from the seventies or sixties. It has a single unsprung custom built which I will carry to the new chassis. 23.9/34 tires if I remember correctly.
My thought is simply to lay out two lengths of say 100mm by 200mm rolled hollow section rails and cut square slots in both sides of the beam and insert and weld 100 by 100 rhs into the slots then weld up to connect the rails. Then cut angles out of the ends and pull the two beams together to form the drawbar. It may hold up to fifteen tons of product so needs to be strong. The axel will be U bolted to the rails and I geuss that is one of my areas of concern; cracking up at this point.
My second chassis probably after next year is to build a new chassis for my pull behind sprayer. I want to build it up to take a 10000 L tank. My old one is ok in the chassis but just has a 5000L tank. I am less concerned about this one as it will just have a suspension under it. Probably just a sprung triaxle group out of a truck trailer. So same construction technique would be employed.
Looking for criticism or ideas on these projects.
