John Deere 455 drill

Hello all,

I am mostly a cattle rancher but I farm maybe 1-200 acres a year. I currently have 16 feet of LL177 drills that are on their last legs and I have been trying to replace them for 2 years now and it just seems like decent used box drills are few and far between. I was ideally looking for a 15-20 foot disk drill with 6 or 7 inch spacing, fertilizer and grass boxes and I just can't seem to find anything that isn't either 100 years old or $50,000. I would love to do no-till but used 750's are impossible to find around here (SE Montana) and I just can't justify the cost of a 1590 for the acreage I am farming. I run mostly green stuff but not for religious reasons, it's just the only dealership in town.

I'm going to an auction this weekend to look at a 25 foot JD455 but I have a couple concerns. First off, it doesn't have grass seed boxes. Anyone know if this is something that could be added on after the fact and what it would cost?

Secondly, is this too much drill for my tractors? The options are a 4430 with duals, a 4250 MFWD, or a 7430 MFWD. I prefer to farm with the 4430 and keep the loaders on the other two but I could use any of them. Our fields are moderately hilly.

I don't even know if this thing will drop into my price range (trying to keep it under $20K) but even though it's not exactly what I'm looking for, I'm starting to get desperate and I can't take the idea of going through another season with my old junker drills.

Thanks in advance.
