Early 2015 at the Crop Production Show an owner operator described his solution for improving the stone trap effectiveness. (see attached)
Doubling the rasp bar mounts from 6 to 12 over the thresher end of the rotor (w/o bolt holes on added mounts) might provide an impeller to deflect material as desired. Although we can't see the mounts (all 12 same circumference) being an impediment for feeding I defer to discussion on that. (hint DHurtt et al).
There are at least another 5/6 machines hitting the field in Canada with this mod next month but this will not answer efficacy/effect in corn/beans/rice etc..
for simplicity sake, we call them rock bumpers.
Operator who visited with us claimed it did help and no feeding issue arose (one season use)
