We have always had a few pair of geese come in early in spring. For years they would land on bale stacks. Even nested there a couple of times. Then since bales have been gone, the first ones (usually two pair) have been landing on roof ridge of our hip roofed barn. Last year there was 2 1/2 pair-5.
Out in yard yesterday and a pair flew over, honking away and I am sure I heard the big fellow say to his mate - "Hey Mary, this guy with the silver combine hasn't left us anything, just like last year. We better go a couple more miles to where those green machines were ..." and they were gone.
Will miss them landing on barn, it was kind of neat to see!
But I am sure this is the earliest I have ever seen geese back!!
