I just want to get everyone's opinion on how high I should be running my cutter bar rpm in alfalfa and grass. We usually run it around 1900 rpm in alfalfa and around 2300 rpm in grass, but everyone that I talk to runs it different than I do. Are there better ways than others to run it, or is it more just what the operator feels comfortable with and what he thinks does a good job? I am currently running the 500R John Deere rotary header, and last year I ran the Razor Bar Massey Ferguson header.
