I want to build a shed over my fuel tanks. The plan is to pour a concrete slab, set two 1000 gal tanks on cradles near ground level crossways (tanks oriented north/south spouts to the south with man door on the south end of east wall). The pad will continue past the south wall where I want to mount a service station type fuel pump. I'm thinking of making a small sump where the pump will be mounted with PVC pipe in the concrete coming up inside the building to accommodate the fuel line from the tanks to the pm as well as power to the pump. I am also planning an asymmetrical roof with a short steep pitch on the east (front) side and long shallow pitch on the west (back) side. I'm not sure that this is the bast way to get fuel and power to the pump and am contemplating how much room around the tanks I should have. Also, where the tanks are, which is where the shed will be, is about 50 feet from my machine shed. I would love to hear from anyone that has set up a service station pump as to how you did it and am open to any and all advice/opinions on what I should and shouldn't do regarding this project.
