So I got in the tractor tonight after we moved it to another field. As I looked at the monitor it was set on 3.5lbs of canola seed per acre. We had been seeding 5 lbs an acre and I had programmed a 4.25lb and a 3.5 lb in the variable rate. We were gonna do a couple passes at each of the different rates and mark it out and check it at harvest. Well somewhere along the way the rate got changed to the 3.5 rate and we finished the field before I noticed it so it could have got changed right away or late in the field. Seeding with a JD single disk drill into wheat stubble with good moisture all the way to the surface. Just had .34 inch rain two days ago. So seed should germinate well. I know canola will compensate for light stand. So should I be worried at all or just call it a test plot for this year.
Canola seeding rate screwup??
