As I moved through seeding this spring (and last fall) with my new to me 3430 I noticed a couple of things that I am sure most guys know, but I thought I would put them down here as well,
The plastic bevel gears to adjust the air baffles work as well as one would expect plastic bevel gears on thin flat iron to work -poorly! I see that there has been a change made on parts to a lever system instead, so that looks like a good upgrade option. Or I will just keep adjusting one side with a screwdriver or pry bar. I think I will also move my velocity sensors to the far side of the cart so that I know if my far gear is skipping.
When seeding canola the meter runs very slow and packs seed treatment/cracked seeds between the roller segments and bearings causing it to turn harder and harder, finally messing up the rates a little bit. It looks like I need to clean them out every day.
I had massive issues with rate changes. I was set at 36 lbs/ac on a tank but sometimes it would run up to 500 and the meter would just take off. Cleaned the hydraulics but it looks like the fix was to reset the ECU. There is a button in Utilities I think that allows you to do this. It DOES NOT reset all your calibrations! That is what I didn't try it sooner. It just reboots the ECU, which I don't think is done on shut down or start up because of the battery on the drill. So a true reset might fix some problems.
All in all, it is a decent cart. I think it is ridiculous that the small tank can't be put into its own run. But the calibration works well on it and it seems to be very accurate. Other than the fact that my drill needed 6 towers of 10 and one of 12 so the tower of 12 is always low. A way to adjust meter segments for tower size would have been a great feature as well.
The fill auger is great. I haven't used it at once!
