Gday all,
I am just thinking out aloud here, but how are younger people meant to get a start in farming if land is so hard to come by.
I have tried many many different people about wanting to lease a small part of their farm or possibly share-crop with them to get a start, but am finding it extremely hard for anyone to even want to consider it.
There are so many really good farms, A grade soil just laying dormant with no-one even the slightest bit keen on renting or sharecropping part of it.
I've got some ground already but would like to keep expanding.
Anyone with suggestions on how to break into renting ground, I've tried landowners, contractors, rural seed/merchandise stores, contractors associations, real estate agents.
If i could get 100 acres to start this year it would be fantastic getting the ball rolling.
Parents sold our small farm as they didn't think it was best for me to farm, but now going out on my own.
Any suggestions please feel free, any comments good or bad, doesn't bother me
Cheers
Alex
