Does anyone know what the basic settings would be on a Gleaner G for harvesting Camelina seed? My understanding is that it is about the same as Alfalfa seed. My Owner's manual has settings for Alfalfa, but Camelina has very wiry solid stalks and the seeds are very tiny. I got nothing out of my test crop last year because of a severe nitrogen deficiency. The last time I cleared trees and planted the ground everything grew like crazy, but not this time! Since I had never run a combine I just drove around the small field and cut down what was there just to get a feel for running the machine. The stalks did not clear out of the back very well, but I suspect my fan speed was too low. I was trying to collect what few seeds may have been there so had the fan speed low. I think a much higher fan speed would move the stalks better, but am concerned that the seeds (when I have some) will just go right out the back. I know there are some sort of "air doors" that cut the air flow at the back to help allow light seeds to fall out of the chaff and through the sieve. Can anyone help me out with this? I want to have whatever is necessary on hand to harvest properly when the time comes next summer. I just don't know for sure what to get. I have the adjustable chaffer and adjustable sieve.
