hello all!!

First of all i want to say thank you to combine forum and to all of ya for posting stories and pictures of tillage, harvesting and equipment. Ive never been one to post comments,i dont have a facebook or twitter, so this is my first post and i would like to share with ya. My dad worked for two brother(corn farmers) that farmed in sugarland,TX up to about 1985 then they moved to manvel,tx and farmed there till about mid 90`s and two week ago i found out that the older brother(Joe) passed away, when i was 12 years old Joe taught he how to drive a tractor (JD 4020).my first job on that 4020 was to pull a chain a 8 row chain harrow in front of planter(that 4020 had no cab and had a short muffler). we also had a jd 4430,4640 and a 4840 w/duals.I disc, ran grain cart(big 12). i remember the day when they let me drive the 4840 with a 8 row bedder, for a 12 yr old i thought i was baddest dude on the planet..lol. ,there were days where i would get off school bus and straight to a tractor, working weekends and all summer and i hear guys talk bout camp fire stories,my camp fire stories where the ones where we sat on a trailer filled with corn seed talking, laughing waiting to fill planter and burning the bags right there in the field(for a 12 yr working with grown men i heard stories and sentences with nothing but cuss words..lol),i remember corn harvest, days where you hit the ground running and days where you sat on the ground working on the combine, twice i remember working thru night trying to get as much corn in before a storm.i sure do miss those days,Dad turned 80 this year and i show him videos on youtube how far farming has come(he gets a kick out of the auto steer),im grateful i got to work side by side my dad for those years and had bosses like Joe and PT, once again thank you for reading and god bless..Rick
