New to me 2188 with small wire concaves. First round offirst winter wheat field was a disaster. Started out with book settings as follows: concave clearance on #2, air 700, rotorspeed 700, seive and chaffer were both set about the middle of the range. Wheat is light crop with really short straw- probably 30-35 bushels. Drove about3.5 mph.
Sample was really ugly with lots of chaff, a few unthrashedheads and hulls. Worst part, the groundbehind the machine has grain the full width of the spreaders. Heavy grain as well, not just shriveled.
Since I have never had a rotary before, I am totallylost. I did notice that there are twocovers on the rotor cage. I am tobelieve this machine was last threshing sunflowers. Do I need to pull these covers off forwheat? Peas?
The next most difficult question is how can I do my yellowpeas with this machine? I am cuttingpeas now with 7720 but would like to use the red machine as well. Don't have any other concaves on hand andI live in the middle of nowhere.
