We've been having difficulties with our 7920 and hypro 9306 pump on our sprayer (older flexicoil with diverter valve instead of dead-heading) for years now. Just seems like we don't have enough capacity. I can rarely spray over 7 mph at 10 or 20 gal/ac rates. The monitor errors out saying that's as much pressure as it can give me. When spraying at 7 mph at 10 gal/ac I get around 60 psi on the back of the sprayer. Whether that's normal depends on the nozzles. In this case they are greenleaf induction nozzles, yellow bodies, red nozzles.
What's weird to us is that to get the capacity we have we have to run the SCV at about 9. My cousin runs a similar (might even be exact same) pump on an JD 8200 at about 4 or less. So I think I'm missing something. According to the hypro pump docs I do have the bypass valve set for JD tractors (closed center, so you screw it in all the way). just seems odd to me. The 7920 is supposed to be able to do 30 gpm and I don't think the pump uses more than 8. We had a new hydraulic pump put in a couple of years ago when the old one started making noise. So I don't think there's a pump problem.
We tried putting the pump return line into the free return but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I am not sure whether to blame the tractor, or the sprayer or the operator or what. I can raise the loader while spraying and the pressure drops, which doesn't sound right to me. There is plenty of gpm in the tractor to run a pump and lift a loader.
Anyone had this sort of problem before? I should be able to spray a lot faster than I do.
