I was wondering if anyone used them, and what they think of them in a variable stream rotor.

Ag In Motion
Attended this new farm show Tuesday and thought it was a great show.
While not as big as some of the others its at a time that is more relaxed then the Farm progress, and provided the opportunity to see demonstration plots of different varieties all in one area. The show also has equipment demos and ride and drives all on site.
While the organizers of this show have been running a similar one in the east for years hats off to them for getting this western version off to an excellent start.
The show seems to have great potential and I`m looking forward to its future growth.

Rotoshear plumbing
Looking to install a pair of rotoshears on a Massey 220, and wondering where guys are drawing their oil flow from? Manual says reel drive return for a lot of makes and models, but have seen one 220 take from canvas drives. Do most put in a flow control valve for speed adjustment? Any tips for installation or operation?
Thanks

Grain Loss Issues - 8120 w/Shelbourne CVS32 Header
I have a 8120 combine with a Shelbourne CVS32 stripper header. I'm trying to harvest some 55 bu club wheat and I've been running into serious grain loss issues.
Initially I was having trouble with rotor loss, but after talking to Shelbourne they had me install some straight separator bars on my rotor which helped significantly. However at this point I'm still looking too much grain over the sieves.
I did some kill-stalls to take a look at what's going on. Unfortunately I haven't done enough kill-stalls with a properly working combine to know what it all should look like. Here are some pictures of what's going on.
First off, here is a shot of the back of our rotor cage. The front of the rotor is towards the left side of the picture, this is a shot of the rotor right before the discharge beater. I have the large skip wire modules that the Shelbourne rep said would be best and all the rotor vanes are in the slow position.

Here is a shot of the pre-sieve and the front of the chaffer. One thing I've noticed is whenever I do a kill stall (and I've done quite a few at this point) it always seems some of the chafer is clean while other areas are covered in chaff. Just which areas are clean and which are not changes each time.

This is a shot from the rear of the combine looking forward over the sieves:

Here you can see the material before it falls on to the sieves, it looks to be fairly evenly distributed to me:

You can see how some parts of the sieves are covered in chaff and others are not. I've tried playing with fan settings, sieve settings, rotor settings, forward speed, everything I can think of and I still am getting too much sieve loss.
I have my combine setup exactly as recommended in the Shelbourne app for my iPhone. I'm trying to go 5.5 - 6.0 MPH.
I think the problem is with the chaffer and from some reason material is piling up and blocking off the airflow to parts of it. These parts then dump grain out the back like crazy. I'm considering purchasing some airfoil chaffers, but I don't want to spend the money and take the time to get them if they aren't going to help. Any insight anyone could give me would be greatly appreciated!

30' FD 70 draper header
Just wondering everybody's opinion about a 30 foot macdon fd70 flex draper. I had a JD 635 draper and sold it because it was to big and heavy and awkward to handle in our hills. There is a 30 foot macdon flex draper coming up at an auction sale. It would be going on a 9770 and mainly cutting wheat. Never been around one before so I don't know anything about them. Are they a reliable header? Can I leave it in flex mode without dragging the knife on the ground? Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

Gleaner r72 unload auger shake
I have a 1992 gleaner r72 that I just bought. Today I turned on the unload auger and it had a vibration at low idle but when it revved up to combine it continued to vibrate for a few seconds then the unload auger started to shake something fierce. Right away we pulled the fighting out thinking it was bent, but it seemed fine. The u joint that connects the 2 augers doesn't seem to have much play. Not sure what else could be causing this. Any help would be great.
thanks all.

Krone Bigpack 1290 HDP ll balers (AU)
Hi just wondering who has one and how has your experience been so far. Have heard mixed reviews so far but are pretty curious about them to be able to get heavier bales and reduce our Frieght costs as that is generally the killer for us. Have also heard some blokes have lost a few clients as the end user generally the dairy or feedlot having trouble breaking bales up in feed mixer/tub grinder etc. plus I really like being able to get the extra capacitie out of them too. Just looking for feedback really

Fluent Security Systems For The Farm .
We had a saleman stop by our farm last week with Fluent , which sells security systems . With the constant BULL$hit of lazy M*&%$#@ Fu*&^%$ roaming the country side relieving owners of their vechicles and belongings the thought has crossed our minds . Does anyone out there use Fluents services has their systems lead prossecution and conviction or are all you getting is another $65 a month bill and a pretty lime green sign to put on your gatepost . Personally hot lead would be my first choice but my wife is not too keen on that idea . Are there members out there that use and can reccomend a competitor s services . My main concern is if the Ba$^&rds are caught how clear is the imageary and is it admisable in court as evidence ? Thanks .

setting cr970 to save straw
Just bought a cr970 , If I slow the rotor down, will I be able to thrash the grain and keep the straw, from being broken up. I need to save the straw for feed and baling. Any advice is welcome. some of the crops are looking thin this year as well, so it will be hard to keep her full.

New rasp bars for a 2188 specialty rotor
I need some new rasp bars for my 2188 with the specialty rotor. I have mostly soybeans and milo, with a little bit of corn. I've heard alot of good things about the Gordon threshing and seperating bars and the Kile bars. I currently have bars that are from CaseIh and the back 1/3 are spike tooth bars, which I like for tough green stemmed soybeans. I'd like to go back with the spikes on the back but I didn't see any on the Gordon site but, I did see them on the Kile site. Which bars are the best Gordon or Kile? Could I put the 20 Gordon threshing bars on the front of my rotor and put the Kile spikes on the remainder, and it do a good job in my crops? TIA

resistor for charging r52
so, still battling the electrical gremlin in my r52. I have cleaned all the grounds, had the alternator checked, and that's fine, but still runs for a bit and the volts go down. is it possible for the console resistor to be going bad? What do that do anyway? tractors with a delco alternator don't need such a thing. Has anyone try to run without it?

Manitoba weights - 16 wheel tandem, 24 wheel triaxle
I was going to post this in the tridem/triaxle thread (http://ift.tt/1Mh0dYg), but though maybe I should start a new thread.
I read through the MB weights link (http://ift.tt/1Mh0gn4) that Jason provided in the above thread, but didn't see any mention of the 16 wheel tandem or 24 wheel triaxle trailers. Commonly seen on lowbeds in Alberta and Saskatchewan, but I have seen them here in MB.
Does anyone know what weights are allowed on them in MB? I found reference to them in the Alberta regs, but not sure if the weights are harmonized or not?

Harvest Services feeder chains better than factory?
We've wore out the feeder chains on both our combines (7120 and 7230) so I'm about to order some new ones. They are both 4-strand (evenly spaced) chains, serrated edges, u-shaped slats. The harvest services feeder chains are available through Rocky Mountain Equipment, and come out to about $300 cheaper than the OEM ones. Any experience with them? We used to run harvest services feeder chains on our 1680. Do they work as well or better than the factory ones typically? Wheat, Canola, Peas, Beans, etc.
Thanks

Tedder vs conditioner (super conditioner)
Howdy just wondering on what people find great for making really nice coloured hay. I have seen a few super conditioners working at field days and they seemed to to work well. I have used a Tedder before mainly on silage ( helping out a contractor) but was really interested on what others have found?
I have only seen roller type super conditioning but are there flail type units available? Are they very successful?
Any thoughts greatly appreciated
Cheers Alex

Anyone ever replace a gearbox that drives the rotors ? I have one making noise and causing a vibration on my 470R . Got it apart now and it looks fine all the bearings roll smooth the gears look good with a nice wear pattern.I tried taking a
shim out of the pnion gear to tighten it up a bit,, but the noise is still there when I turn it over by hand .So what you guys think is there enough wear on the teeth to cause this ? Any idea the cost to rebuild one ?
It has 1500 hours on it and always had syn.oil , so needles to say im a little choked

Harvesting hemp with lex 670
What is everyones thoughts of a lex 670 for harvesting hemp? I know hemp is a tough crop for many combines. On the farm we run 2 9870sts in hemp and if not pushed hard they do ok. Although when they plug they are a nightmare. We ran 9600 deeres before and they preformed well due to the walkers. With the added capacity of the 670 and the straw walker design would it be a good contender for hemp? Has anyone harvested hemp with a 670? Would the 670 be comparable in capacity for other crops as the 9870?

looking for sunnie guru's
On our farm we havnt had sunnies since 04 and 89 prior to that so being comple. ly honest I am learning
Ok my flowers are just starting to bud, plants are healthy as can be with no noticable bug damage anywhere on the plant, I have been told at 30% flower to use lorsban, but things were looking really good until my brother cracked open a bud and there it was a short fat white worm, started looking around and they are laying eggs in about 80% of them.
So here is whats up, never used lorsban in my life, and I have already heard a few dif things.
1. Must use ground rig this early cause planes wont get the coverage
2. I can't use fungicide this early to save a pass
Here is my questions
1. Is either true?
2. Should I be using a high rate of water? How much is more so what I am asking
3. Should I use fungicide nozzles to get more coverage on the plant?
4. How is residual effected with rain cause there is plenty in the forcast so I must move quickly, of course I had to discover this yesterday afternoon after breaking a hydraulic hose on the sprayer
5. I will attach a photo of the damage and I am curious how much the yield has already been reduced

Hey guys, I've got a JD 4850 and am thinking about putting a JD 840 loaded on it. It is mfwd, any worries or concerns with the front end of the tractor or the tractor in general that I should be considering? The loader is 9' wide. The tractor would be loading bales and manure. Any opinions or thoughts would be appreciated.

Claas Magnum baling machine question.
Hi guys and gals. I was directed here from Reddit since I asked a question in the /r/agriculture subreddit and someone said I should ask here instead.
Anyway, here is my question(copied from Reddit post):
My girlfriend's family recently bought a CLAAS MAGNUM baling machine, the thing is they don't know how to load the baling twine into it, previous owner is clueless as well...
I have Googled for them but it seems kind of impossible to find anything that
1) Doesn't cost money.
2) Won't come by mail.
To clarify, we need the manual ASAP(wednesday), preferrably in a .pdf format from a free/cheap download source, alternatively a video.
I've found the manual on Ebay, but again, the manual is needed this weekend. I also found downloads for it, but only on scummy-looking websites with funny looking download links.
Attaching a picture of it as well, if it's any help.
Thank you SO MUCH in advance!
Best regards from Sweden.

Bogballe: M3WPlus or Kuhn: 50.1W which one?
Hello guys.
Just needing a little bit of advice I have being doing my research for 4 months now, as I'm looking at buying a 3pt linkage spreader for next year season. We have a Kuhn dealer in town than got a Bogballe dearler 30km away i have checked out both machines and seems impressed with both so my selection is at a wall at the moment.
Just wounding what other guys think of there machines? if there are any pros and cons that i should know about?
im a farmer in the EP crop around 780HA the things I'm looking at doing will be:
-3m CTF @100ft (as i have a hardi twin force boom)
-VRA with a Ag leader GPS system either gonna up grade to a Versa screen or Integra screen) so should be able to run the spreader off the ISOBUS system which than i should be able to use the VT system which will lead to VRA by either loading my pervious yield maps or in a few years look at getting Optrx crop sensors.
- Section control shut off
I will be putting in on my Case Puma 225 loader tractor and running the machine off my hydraulics.
so any information would be great and what others guys have thought of there machines? would you change anything? or things that could be improved?
well hope to get some really good information and hope the season is looking good where very your are. Things on the EP (Cummins) looks pretty good at the moment.
Thanks guys.

A Timely Rain
Between the 10th and 17th of july had 35 mm was getting nervous.
Years ok a few strange problems this year had to spray 4leaf late sown barley for insects a few weeks back that's a first for me.
Only barley on pasture ground from 2014, barley on wheat stubble or canola ground is fine.
Grass herbicides taking longer than usual to work due to frosty conditions.
Lupins have to say a very average germination.
Rhizo seems a little more prevelant than normal.
About to put out some achieve this week haven't done it before but people say just don't look at the crop for a few weeks after.
All in 6/10 for crops.
No canola this year seems I should have, not a bad canola crop in all of Australia in 2015 and prices should be good.
Whats happening on your patch??

New Potatos UUUMMMM GOOD !
Had our first feed of new potatos from our garden with fresh dill and sour cream this evening . Wouldn't trade it for a million bucks . Mind you I would trade for a couple of inches of rain ! Hahaha ! Even though we have been dry our garden gets a good watering and it is well worth it . Can't say that for the rest of our crops . How many others have been enjoying their gardens this summer ? :)

1985 Gleaner N5 question
Was running weat and all seemed to go well expect that every now and then the engine would bog down and the straw spreader light would come on, about 50 bushel to a acre wheat and running a Agco 320 grain table, and ideas?

9770 setup for wheat barley?
Sorry for the question that has been asked since sts came out. I am harvesting and my dad is looking at green crops with 4" of rain in the past few weeks. Me, only 35 miles away, 0.2" maybe. Amazing.... I don't have time to research all of this.
Dad is looking to upsize from his 9600. Can someone tell me what to look for in avoiding and needing in a 9770sts for wheat and barley. Rotor types, accelerators, ect.. Not sure on all the different options out there.
Next question. He wants the 936D header. I have one and it is a good header. What extra would he get with a 600 series header? What options, if any, are needed on the combine to make use of these extras?
He normally cuts 30-60 bushel wheat and 40-80 bushel barley.
Side note here. I find it a bit frustrating watching him shop for the past few years. Are all dads asking questions and not wanting to listen. I mentioned bringing over a 7240 case to try. He acts like he doesn't want to see it on his place. I brought a 9770sts over a few years ago for him to try. He would not even ride in it. Wouldn't even look behind it to see if was throwing over to his satisfaction as I was using it. At that time he was set on a 9650 or 9660 walker. "Can't bale behind a rotor"
Anyway, he has called and asks me some questions. I hate saying much. He will get what he wants anyway then complain it doesn't have xyz features. Maybe that is why it was $30,000 cheaper than the others..... This is why I am asking what is needed to avoid and what you really want on one. I just want him to be very happy with his purchase what ever he ends up with.
Thank you

Changing front rotor bearing on 1660
Hey I'm just about to start changing my rotor bearing on my 1660, anything else I should look at/consider changing while I'm there?
The ears look like they are a little worn down so I've heard a few things about an accelerator kit, is there any more? And what's the best one to go with.
I'll be attempting to combine roughly 60 bu/acre canola with this combine on a 25ft swath, is that possible? Combined wheat and barley last year on a 25ft swath and did as well as the 9600 I was renting a year before. I notice the pickups about 2ft narrower though

Oat Straw Value
Just wondering with the lack of rain this year in different areas and the resulting hay situation what kind of value oat straw has this year? I normally don't bale any straw, spread it all on the field with the combine. There is quite a bit of value in the straw in the form of nutrients, fertilizer is far from cheap these days! If there was some money to be made by baling the straw I would definitely consider it, and I figured if there was a year it might well be this year. What is straw going for in different areas this year? How about pea straw?

which shoe seive for 2x88 in wheat and peas
As per my thrashing problems with new combine, I am going to order a new bottom seive for 2188. I have always thought blunt finger was the ticket for peas/wheat in my old jd. What would you guys suggest for this machine? Our wheat usually yields 40-70, and peas 30 bpa.
thanks in advance. Looking at a&i as I have bought thiers before.

calculating contracting rates
Hi all,
Starting a irrigation contracting business focusing on cotton production and finding it difficult to work out pricing per ha. I know pricing can change with size and timing but what equation do you work on to get a range to charge out. I have heard of new cost of equipment deprecated over three years worked out to a daily cost then adding wages and a percentage of loading. Haven't got anything that works out yet. Anything would be helpful.
Thanks.

pros / cons of john deere 1835 sfp drill
have been looking to get a bigger air drill, dry years like this have really shown the value of MRB's on our old 40' bourgault, will be looking for another shank drill with MRB's.... really like the looks of the JD tank and possibility to upgrade a second hand tank to sectional control.
does anyone have any experience with the JD 1835's? how have the drill frames / disk banders stood up? how do their banders affect trash clearance? Has anyone got any experience running both a deere and a 57/5810?
not looking for independent openers - don't do more than 500 ac of canola and they are just too much maintenance.......

Radish seed
I bought some "jack hammer" radish seed the other day from my wifes uncle (he holds the patent on these things)
My question is what are guys paying for seed and what kind of rates are you guys using, I think I will have to put together a seed population. If I can find time and I doubt it but I would like to plant some with the planter to make nice srips to seed into next year with corn and sunflowers.
Almost 3$ a pound seems high, makes me want to raise some seed

Massey Ferguson 7620 windows breaking
Is anyone having trouble with the back left and right windows blowing out for no reason? The back right blew out last fall and now the other day the left one blew out. Both times while the tractor was parked with nobody around. 80% of the glass is outside of the tractor. We think it may be a pressure problem inside the cab. But when I asked the dealership, they didn't know, but did say they had replaced these windows before under similar circumstances.

TX 64 decelerating
Got a problem with TX, couple of days ago while harvesting sorghum I noticed it did not reduced revs when engaging threshing drive and then next load when I engaged and accelerated, once at full revs it dropped back to idle by itself. I accelerated again and all was fine for rest of day. Next day went to start harvest again it would just reduced revs by itself. You can hold finger on acell button and will go to full revs then after a few seconds reduce part or all way back to idle then (while still holding in button) instantly increase to full revs. Have changed button and put in a new linear acctuator. Looked at control board and all looks fine. Cleaned plug at rear of box, still no luck. Talking with mechanic this afternoon thinking possible relay or solder on board or CPU. Any one have similar situation? Or any thoughts on things to try?
Thanks, Pete.

R70 Heating
Have a R70 with Duetz. The history is, started heating. I replaced the fan, that helped, then oil would heat real bad. Replaced the thermostat. That stopped that. Now, cylinders get hot. It is clean, have taken air cleaners off and complete top and cleaned very good. Air conditioner doesn't cool very good The evaporated is very clean. It appears there is not enough air movement. My question How do know the cause? What about the drive? I suppose there is pump and a motor

5100 floating header in wheat
Seems I've heard a floating (not flex) 5100 draper header should be locked rigid in wheat. I have some short wheat starting out. Little rigid wheels on outsides of header limit height to about 10" minimum, which is real good for staying over rocks. But, if I leave header rigid, I think one of the outside wheels taking a bunch of weight (uneven ground here) would be tough on that tire, the header, and front of combine...thresher housing. Seems putting in float would allow adapter to minimize stress on header and front of combine. If I raise header above height for wheels to touch ground, does the header get squirrelly dipping and raising (in float), or does it run fairly stable and level? Couple days away from cutting, figured I'd take advantage of some folk's experience over trial and error after getting started. Would be nice to take advantage of outside wheels to keep from gouging ground, appreciate some pointers, thanks.

1992 gleaner r72 header
Hello I am new to the gleaner combines but thought I would take the green blinders off and give one a try. Anyhow I recently bought a 1992 r72 and today I picked up a gleaner 7000 straight cut header. When I tried to install it on the combine the feeder house is the right width but the feeder house is about 4" shorter than the opening on the header. Is there an adapter that I need to get for it to fit or is there something else that I need to change. The salesman I bought it from said it would fit, I hope he was telling the truth. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

R50 RWA Motor help
My friend just got an R50, upgrading from the old IH models. This machine was used for the first time today in my rye. It blew the seal out of the left rear wheel motor. Called the previous owned, he said the rear axle was taken from an M2 and put on this R50. I can't find any tags on that motor, does someone remanufacture them?
The plan, since it quit raining for 72 hours here in SW Penna is to make a loop hose so it will stop dumping oil and try to get in the last 20 acres of rye and spelt.
Any info is appreciated!!!

Grain truck wrecker?
Hi,
I have a late 70's C70 with the Diesel engine and 5+4 transmission.
The main transmission (Clark 280v022), is toast. It was run dry.
Does anyone know of a wrecker for these type of trucks in Saskatchewan other than Saskatoon Truck Parts? I've tried them already and they don't have what I need in stock.
Thanks

Parting out a K2... What's worth keeping?
It's time to tare down the old K2, (ser. no. 245xx). Shortback GM250 gasser with manual auger. Engine runs fine and already pulled it to keep as a backup to another K2 I own. I know these old machines are getting pretty hard to come by even in bone yards but my wife isn't in the mood to turn our own yard into a Gleaner junk yard. So what do I keep verses junking it for scrap?

A330 Corn Heads for Gleaner K2 or K
I have a couple A330 black corn heads available if interested. They both came from Gleaner K2 combines but would fit a Gleaner K as well. Both have signs of normal wear but are in good condition and field ready with some lubrication.
The first 5 pics are from Serial No.00590973 00226
The last 4 pics are from Serial No. 5119. This head has hooks set for K2 but looks like it might have been used on F2 because filler asy. is missing.

Duals on a combine
Anyone try hub extensions and using 800's as duals? Reason I ask is id like to dual up a couple machines with the tires we took off to put floaters on so I already have 2 sets of 800's on rims i could use if this actually works half decently. Same idea as the picture of the case. I had got big tires last year, one set was misrepresented but from 1000 miles away could only take their pictures worth of them and this set had cracked up sidewalls, still worked but don't want to use them unless it's an emergency but it's getting wet and harvest is only a month away. Big tires worked well, I think duals would be better though as they should still be wider overall spreading the weight over more ground. The big ones were priced right which is why we did that opposed to duals last year.

Tractors, tires, and row spacing
I'm considering switching from 30" spacing on row crop to 15". I've been reading data that has proven (in their tests) that using a wide tire and planting a few rows in the wheels tracks yields better and has less compaction than going with a super ultra narrow tire, which I think is virtually impossible with 15" spacing. The data I've read is from Marion Calmer, Calmer Corn heads.
My question is: Is there research that exists that shows what tire to match to what tractor? Based on the size and weight of the tractor, the "normal" conditions of the field and the efficiency of the tire - lugging, compaction, fuel efficiency, etc.
For example: If the tractor being used is a high horsepower row crop tractor (300+ HP) that weighs in the high 30K #'s, would it be better to mount 520/46's on the rear or 620/46's, or something else? Also, does that tire selection stay the same or change if the tractor is an 4WD/Articulating and weighs more or a smaller row crop tractor that weighs less?
Right now tracks are out of the question. Thanks for the input.

Western U.S. wheat
I just finished reading Thacker Harvesting article in Farm and Ranch Guide .Their run up from N.M.,Texas , Kansas and into Colorado has only been 5-25 bushel with some weight down to 54 lb. I thought that area routinely was better than that .There were earlier reports Texas had moved out of a drought situation in most of the state .Is this the normal for this year or are their customers just happening to be in a stressed area.

Boss 18 Metre Parallelogram Tyne Planter on 9" Spacing.
We had 6 new planters fire up this winter plant on 9" & 10" spacing's, have attached a you tube link to one of the machines sowing back into potato country in southern NSW. The press wheels on this one were put across the rear to really open up the frame, the other machines were all fitted with in frame press wheels attached to each individual row unit.
Depth control is done by our front coulter drum wheel which means planting depth is not affected by the press wheel picking up mud in wet conditions, the front coulter is driven by the drum wheels so it works in the stickiest of conditions.

New found respect for true dryland farmers, and everything I did wrong this year...
During my short lifetime in my cold wet corner of the world, I never fully appreciated the challenges of farming when moisture is the limiting factor. Too much is nearly always my limiting factor. When I read, for example, something about the width of the opener affecting moisture loss, it all sounds like irrelevant hair splitting, till this year. Now I can see everything I did wrong that lost moisture. And really, I only did 6 things wrong, not bad.
1) I seeded too early.
2) I seeded too late.
3) I seeded too shallow
4) I seeded too deep
5) I Performed tillage
6) I didn't perform tillage
Well, a few other things. Had lots of weeds, particularly quackgrass to control after so many non stop wet years, left everything to spray in the spring, trying to get as much growth as possible, usually a good thing to suck some more moisture out too. Part way into seeding I realized the rains weren't going to happen and changed my strategy and made spraying a priority to conserve whatever moisture was there. Now I can see those quackgrass patches clearly, since they robbed so much moisture. That has never been a concern of mine before. Should have taken them out sooner, however I also grazed cows on them after spraying, so the growth was appreciated at the time, since pastures weren't growing.
Compaction, I am fully convinced that compaction is my biggest enemy, except this year. Wheel tracks, headlands, seed truck parking areas, land that was rolled after seeding, all came up faster and more even, normally they would be a write off.
All the fuss about seeding depth seemed uneccesary, just try to seed as shallow as possible while keeping as few seeds on the surface as possible, but they germinate on the surface just fine. This year, small variations in depth are visible from a mile away. took weeks longer to germinate if too shallow, almost couldn't be too deep, at least for the canola, I think they all came up eventually. But barley, I did end up too deep on a few humps and ridges. The slightest difference in soil depth is huge, od dead furrows are pitiful, old plow strikeouts are excellent. Anything with manure added is excellent.
I shouldn't have even attempted to work up the ruts from last year(s) what should have been the best land ended up too dry to germinate after any kind of field work. No till is doing drastically better. The only feild work that didn't do much harm is where I just skidded the sweeps along the top to level some lumps from fall subsoiling( came up as basketball sized boulders last fall) or spreading manure on the surface, anything deeper than that was a catastrophe. That said, I should have somehow tilled everything to level out the ground so seeding depth would have been consistent, but can't have your cake and eat it too. On a side note, the subsoiled ground does look very good compared to any other year, and I was doing that for wet, not for dry.
Neighbors who I thought were nuts for seeding in April look smart now, had a bit more moisture in the ground then. Seeding before the one shower we got in May made a huge difference also. Or seeding late enough to hang on until the rains eventually come( have been forecast for over a week now.......Perhaps they will come. Spread things around enough I thought something would be timed right.
I suppose the biggest mistake I made is not having the farm located under one of those million dollar freak thunderstorms, not sure how to fix that. All that said, crops looked excellent, but late and uneven as of about 10 days ago, going downhill fast now as we continue to miss most showers. Canola that germinated on time mostly looks very good, but mostly just blanks so far with all the heat. The cotelydons beside them may be in for a disappointment if winter happens to come before January...
The good news is that the weeds couldn't germinate either, but the insects sure did.
My respect to the people who have to deal with this most years. Not sure which I would prefer.
New found respect for true dryland farmers, and everything I did wrong this year...

Versatile ML930 precision air drill
Wondering if anyone has demoed this mechanical (non-hydraulic) precision independent opener seeding tool? ML930 is 40' and under ML950 is 40' and over, I'm interested in cost and accuracy and/or any issues? They've only been out since 2012. They seem like a less complicated and costly air drill then comparable tools on the market. Any feedback would be appreciated

Changing tires or tracks on a J&M cart.
I have a 1150 grain storm J&M cart. The Goodyear 900 tires on the cart need to be replaced after 5 years of use as the sidewall beads are tearing off the tire. Tires have leaked since day one and it is finally time to get rid of them.
I am going to replace with anything but goodyear, but since the cost is going to be significant, I was wondering if anyone has replaced tires on a cart with tracks. Compaction has always been an issue and tracks would solve this.
Do the factory tracks that J&M bolt on to the same hub as a regular wheel rim?
Another option would be to put on the 1150's if they would fit. Would need a wider rim as well.
Have not been able to get any answers from J&M yet on pricing and or what fits, called them again this morning.
Just wondering if anyone has done something similiar.

WR 9740 DEF usage
Just wondering from real field experience how much DEF these machines are using. Will be running a new one this fall and need to decide which route to take to get set up for DEF. This is only machine on farm using it so far and don't have a whole pile of acres to cut so would only be putting on around 75 to 100 hours. Due to the shelf life of the fluid just wondering if it's worth going to bulk totes knowing that it's substantially cheaper but if I don't use it up then it's really no advantage than using the much more expensive small jugs. Any thoughts?

8010 Combine Dirty Grain
Last fall during the last half of the season our grain was too dirty with lots of little things in it ( leaves, small pieces of cobb, small pieces of stems). It seemed as though the air flow wasn't enough but the monitor showed the fan was running at the proper rpm. Lower sieve was wide open upper sieve was around 20 I think. Presieve 2 notches from wide open. I think there has to be something wrong with the fan. Our service guy ran over the bottom cage/guard with his truck when he was working on a separate issue so we ran without that for quite a bit of the fall. Would that make a difference? Just wondering about any ideas when I start working on it to try to figure out what's wrong.

Tri-Drive -Tridem Combo
Am considering purchasing a new Tri-Drive - Tridem Truck-Trailer Combo. I want to maximize payload when hauling either cleaned wheat seed or fertilizer. The old man insists on heaping every load and will no-doubt be the DOT's best customer on overloaded axles ! For those of you who know your axle weight allowances, does my Tri-Drive solution make sense ?

7720 Steering pivot x2
Hey folks, I just bought a nice 7720 and could not get my 643 up on the header trailer. Upon further inspection I noticed that an additional center pivot was added below the original one which is raising the rear of combine up, reducing the height of header lift. My question is what purpose would this serve? It looks like I can move steering axle to the upper (original) pivot and level combine while giving me the lift for loading corn head.

2188 header lift very slow
Running 30' md74 header. lifts pretty fast when oil is cold, but as she heats up the header takes as much as 20 seconds to raise from the ground to the top. The flow control under the arm rest does not change anything. combine is equipped with third cylinder.
where to start?

power beyond for electric over hydraulic boom functions
Anyone using power beyond to control electric over hydraulic boom functions? At the moment I have to run constant flow for boom up and down and the wing tilt.
I've been told the power beyond can control it so oil only flows when the eoh switches are used. Not sure how it all works.
Tractor is a jd7810.

Hesston Discbine Crimper problems
We have a 8550S Hesston with a 8070 15 foot header. We have a problem keeping bearings in the helper roller on the crimper. I read on a post some time ago that someone took out the helper roller and put a plate across behind the turtles. If anyone out there has done this it would be much appreciated to know how the machine worked after this modification and how wide a plate you need to put in there. It would be great to here from someone soon, Thankyou

Wanting to modifiy ladder to allow tractor to turn sharper. Pulling a 33' protill and you need a lot of headland the way it is now.
I have seen a post/thread of someone talking about this but can't find it. Is there a kit or does someone have a pic of what they have done?

JD 7810 linkage issue
G'day all,
I've got a 1998 7810 which the linkage sticks in the raised position.
Using it more often now with a spreader and is a pain to get down. Used to jump on it and would come down after a while, now using a loader to get it down and needs plenty weight to move it.
Anyone else have the same issue and do you live with it or is there repair option? Dealer here not very insightful.
Goes fine with the spreader weight.
Thanks in advance.

JD 4400 handle tall rye ok?
Here in western pa a lot of folks cut rye with a haybine then bale it for straw. I can do that but I was wng if my diesel 4400 JD with a 213 head will handle tall rye and I would just combine it instead. This option has a couple advantages, one I will get the rye seed to replant and two it has more time in the field to to let thefileds dry and bleach out the straw before I cut it. What do you guys think?

Cart Compromise
I need a little more grain handling ability on my little homestead. I have 1 good tandem truck and then 2 junkers which are taking a lot of time and maintenance to keep going. I was hoping to replace those two with a cart of some type.
I was eying one of these J&M gravity wagons. We aren`t loading semis but the wagon could serve multiple purposes. They can be built with split compartment and used a seed tender and they are also classed as farm implement so you can pull it behind a tandem without a A1 license. I don't think they are rated for more than 30-40 mph though. If you did have soft fields you could use these behind a tractor but they have no easy way to offload to a truck unless you can throw a 10`drill fill auger or something in the back. Plus it is very low maintenance.
Don`t see many of these up in canada though.

rotor loss question
we clip straw short for baling. that being said maybe I'm at as good as i can be. Had been coached to install all new bars no reversers, rotor sweeps, discharg bars, and increas the angle of helecols didn't do the steep setup. made much better straw. always had a lot of pieces of head with 2-4 cernals of wheat in them.Reading posts on this sight encouraged me to try filler bars which all but eliminated this problem 2 were instaled. befor this man doing testing at elevator could tell every time it was our sample. not after speed just want the field to look better. We use to use a G and L2. coulden tell witch way it was combined somtimes. this is a R72 with a 24 ft. head I am asking for help with. would the nex step be to remove a couple of bars? and no we will not go latter and clip the straw shorter thank you in advance good luck to all

CIH WD1203 Swather and Mice
Hello,
We are having issues of mice getting into our swather cab. I plugged, with steel wool, the hole on the right hand side of the cab behind the seat (usually run my gps cables out during harvest). I also checked where the electric cables come into the fuse panel and everything seems tight.
Anyone have an idea where else to check? It seems like there isn't any other places that they could get in...but they are.
I am at a loss of where else to look. I'd also like to remove the floor mat and wash it and vacuum underneath but it looks like I have to unbolt the seat.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Homemade tractor mounted auger
Has anyone built something like this. I was listening to a bunch of truckies rag me about load times. I don't think they will be happy until I am sub ten minutes for 75t. Got me thinking about building a new auger. First I thought about powering a 12" auger with a Perkins diesel I have in an old loader then I thought about side mounting one on my 4440jd. It doesn't have TPL but it has the brackets for it to rigid mount an auger chassis and it has a frame on the front for a tank that I could use to hold the front end of the auger. It has plenty of power, two sets of hydraulics to control each end of the auger.
So the questions are; how big of an auger could I drive. Minimum and preferred length is 41ft because that is what my other two augers are. How do you get the power to the auger ? Two 90degree gearboxes off the pto? This might be the limitation for power as 100hp seems to be these gearboxes limit. What size auger could approach 7t/minute. This may be to ambitious but 5t and the chaser drops 20t in would bring my loads in at ten minutes.
Any photos? It needs to be self contained and mounted. Ie moves with the tractors power. Emptying end behind the tractor.

Will I be happy with my sample if I leave the 1 5/8 Harvest Services chafer sieve in my TR 98 for small grains? And how important is the rake and shoe extension in small grains? I don't think I can put it in behind the Harvest Services chafer. Thanks in advance for your opinion.

Moving GPS from tractor to swather?
A few days back we signed off on a new sprayer, meaning we don't really have a use for the GPS in our tractor we sprayed with, so we are thinking of putting it in the swather.
Anyone have experience with this? Any problems with doing it I should know about? It is a New Holland EZ-Steer.

S680 Lateral tilt problem
I have a 2 year old 680 last year the tilt started to just randomly go one side or the other. My dealer could not seem to fix it. at the end we thought a software patch created the problem and reloaded the computer. when I got it out this fall, I found that when I raised the reel the header tilted. turns out that raising the header, moving the reel, any direction, stepping on the brakes. All will create a lateral movement. my dealer came out and put 12 updates into the machine. i have calibrated the tilt and the header, it still does it. Any ideas?

On Sept 1st I have a friend coming over from Germany for a couple of weeks.
He sent me his tour wish list:
If have look for something i like to do when i stay in Alberta.
I like to go down to the south where some potatoe growers (Taber) are located and some irrigationed land is.
I like to go to the north ,maybe to edmonton to the potatoe growers or more north to the oil fields or the oil sand fields.
I like to go to Red Deere in a Pub/Club. (Billy Bobs here we come!)
I like to go to Calgray in the Hifi-Club.
I like to go to Three Hills in a Pub.
I like to visit some other farms.
And of course i really like to help you to get your crop in. :)The other things i can do when the weather is bad.
A bit of a potato and pub theme but I can live with that.:54:
I don't actually know exactly what is meant by Hifi-club so I guess we both get to learn.:)
Looking forward to it!

RR canola in RR beans
Ok I have a piece of dirt that is a swamp, just picked it up last year, I know with rotations I can make it good, last year I put in corn at 40,000 seeds an acre, twice what anyone else does here, where it was good it was incredible but where it was bad the only thing that would grow was barnyard grass that I couldn't knock down.
So I discovered Warrant from Monsanto and other than it does semingly nothing for the volunteer canola that showed up, it is awesome, no more grasses, the other beans with no canola or corn are spotless, other than a little skip on the headlands I dont need to spray it, its that perfect, so this canola came in big time and hadnt had canola on this dirt for 9 years. So what I have done is I used 3 oz of Raptor + Harmony not sure the rate cause it was in batch bags with MSO and it beat it up pretty good, beans too but the canola was pretty big. The canola is hurting but not really sure if its dead.
Is there any ideas of something I can go back in there with to finish off that canola? The beans are not very big yet and no flowers either

ANZ/Landmark
Been on the media as we all know here in Australia.
I know 4 personally ranging from small farmer to medium scale that were landmark 1 financially I would say sound and the other 3 ok no better or worse than most.
But 3 of them left anz and one went through **** lost two farms but still with them.
One has to question why they bought the landmark "book" did they do the due diligence if it was as bad as they suggest?

Fixing tire sidewalls
Last year we bought a few sets of flotation tires for the combines, got them in Iowa, one set had developed really bad sidewall cracking, still holds air but looks sketchy. We are in central Manitoba and just wondering if there's anything we can do with these if there is anywhere that can fill or repair the cracks? I forget the new price on these tires but even used weren't cheap so to spend some money if there's a way is still a better option. TIA

I'm on the south coast of Western Australia with a range of soil types from sands to clay loams and looking to buy an airdrill, either John Deere 1830, Flexicoil 5500 or a Bourgault5710 or 5810. Wondering what peoples thoughts are on the merits of each, in Australia we can get a hydraulic tyne on the Flexi and Bourgault (is it worth it?) One concern I do have with an airdrill is over packing when it's wet and John Deeres 4 inch rubber press wheels weren't very durable, is the Flexicoil user friendly and durable and any comments on trash flow and field finish for any of these machines would be appreciated. I previously had a Morris C2 which does an awesome job of getting crop out of the ground but trash flow is the issue.

UK wheat harvest
I'm heading into the UK for a few days in early August, I'm keen to see any large scale operations harvesting and baling straw.
If anyone has any contacts or is harvesting it would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance.

Belt spreaders spread urea 36m
Does anyone have any experience with spreading urea 36m with belt spreaders like bredal/sulky/segues and what machine do they recommend

A little anxious
I ordered a new 760 TT this past winter before the end of the year, and it still hasn't showed up. The salesman involved in the sale had quit before the winter was over, and I found out this past week that the Claas rep I had dealt with has left Claas. The new salesman is doing his best to try to find out the status of my machine, but it apparently hasn't been as easy as you would think! We will have something to harvest by the end of this month, so I hope it shows up soon. The dealer still has to go through it, and I would like a few days with it to familiarize myself with all of the new bells and whistles. Worst case scenario is I run my 580R for a while at the beginning. Thanks for listening to my ramblings!

Uan & ams
For those who are putting UAN and AMS as a Tank Mix partner with their herbicide, are you doing it solely as a surfactant or are you finding a significant nutrient value in these products? Also are you applying it at 2 gallons per acre or 3 gallons per acre with herbicide if so can you do this and avoid leaf burn.

9770 calibration
I just recently upgraded to a 9770 sts from a 9500. I have a 635D head. It keeps throwing a code saying to calibrate the header. When I attempt to calibrate the computer thinks for about thirty seconds and then says calibration aborted. The combine had previously run a 35 foot macdon draper head. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

new to me 2188 - setting up for wheat/peas
New to me 2188 with small wire concaves. First round offirst winter wheat field was a disaster. Started out with book settings as follows: concave clearance on #2, air 700, rotorspeed 700, seive and chaffer were both set about the middle of the range. Wheat is light crop with really short straw- probably 30-35 bushels. Drove about3.5 mph.
Sample was really ugly with lots of chaff, a few unthrashedheads and hulls. Worst part, the groundbehind the machine has grain the full width of the spreaders. Heavy grain as well, not just shriveled.
Since I have never had a rotary before, I am totallylost. I did notice that there are twocovers on the rotor cage. I am tobelieve this machine was last threshing sunflowers. Do I need to pull these covers off forwheat? Peas?
The next most difficult question is how can I do my yellowpeas with this machine? I am cuttingpeas now with 7720 but would like to use the red machine as well. Don't have any other concaves on hand andI live in the middle of nowhere.

mx120 PTO stuck in 540 rpm
Hey guys... I had my mx 120 baling the other day and I had to hook up the vac to it so I changed it to 1000 rpm and went to use the vac and it looked like the shaft was skipping and jumping. At first I thought there was something jammed in the vac but the vac turned free. I tried it again and it just turned slowly and made a whineing noise. I tried to change it back to 540 but the shaft wouldnt slide in enough to put the snap ring in. I taped it with a block of wood and it went in but now its stuck there and the pto has no power... I can stop it from turning with my hand. Why is this... Is the spring bad inside?

JD 9650 CTS or 9650 STS
Hi fellas. I'm farming in south western western australia. I am looking to upgrade my case 2366 mainly because id like to chop and spread my straw. There are both sts and cts available around my price range. I am growing a mix of canola, barley, and wheat. Is a lower hour 9650cts an option over a 9650sts? Advantages? Disadvantages? Thanks alot.

Hydraulic shop doors
I'm keen to put a couple of hydraulic doors in a new shed we have just built. I've looked around here in Aus and can only find one place that does them and they are quite pricey.
Thinking about building our own. Has anyone tried this?
What size hydraulic cylinders required for a 30' x 16' door?
We have very low wind loads. Thanks for any help.

Slugs? shredding barley leaves at flag leaf stage, what to do?
Never seen this before. Critters shaped like a slug, about 1/8" diameter and up to 1" long, two antenna's. brown colour and soft bodied, are eating strips into barley leaves. Patches are turning white the leaves are so shredded, no flag leaves left on some. Multiple slugs on each plant this evening. I recall seeing a few leaves with these chewed strips in years past, and never knew who was doing it, but never seen the plants destroyed before.
Searching online, I can't find much at all about slugs in cereals. The damage does match the description of cereal leaf beetle larvae, but they don't look the same. I am seeing a few in all cereals, but the worst damage is in the lower/slower developing areas of one field. Are they on their way everywhere else, or at the peak of their cycle by now? What are the control options? And why would slugs be doing so well on such a dry year, there is no moisture in the ground for significant depth?

Brandt 1322XR and Parker 1348
Looking at a larger cart, and by price and availability have narrowed it down to a new Brandt 1322XR and a slightly used Parker 1348. They both look very good, but are slightly different. Brandt - single auger, local parts, unload auger closer to tractor cab. Parker - double auger (it is a short horizontal auger, is this good or bad?) higher ground clearance. Both have the same rubber.
I know several people with the 1020 Brandt and they like them, just wondering if anyone has comments on the Brandt 1322 or the Parker 1348. Good? Bad? Indifferent? J&M and Unverferth etc are priced too high with the poor exchange rate. Thanks.

9870 grain loss monitor trouble
I have an 08 9870 that the grain loss monitor isn't working correctly on. When the center readout comes up neither the Chaffer or rotor loss monitors come up any. (One bar on eAch is all that's illuminated). I can't fine tune my machine for loss when I don't know what area it's being lost from. The center. Seems to work accordingly to what grain I'm finding on the ground

Alberta Hay Shortage
Is there any areas around Alberta or Sask. with hay to spare?? I've noticed down around Red Deer they got a lot of thunder storms in June.
Here only 7/8" of rain from May till now which doesn't give much for hay or grain crops. 1st cut used up what reserve there was now we need some good rains to make a 2nd cut .

Macdon 972 swather header transport
Have a 972 Macdon on a Premier tractor. In the off season I would like to store the header in a low ceiling shed and tractor in another shed, leaving room for tractors and things that need clearance. It is a 25ft header. Will the tractor pick it off a standard header transport? Have seen on here some 3 point hitch setups but don't have a tractor big enough to handle that. A trailer would be the best. Can a slow speed transport be added on?

PBR and Elevators
In the new legislation an elevator can be sued for receiving crop that's
binrun from an improper source.
I am not happy with this. An elevator has to determine the parentage before receiving a load. The practicality of this is mind boggling Somebody must of been smoking some good stuff to dream this up..

Case 9180 vs 9280
What are the main differences in a 9180 versus a 9280 tractor. I found two very similar in hours and tires and priced quite close to each other. The tractor would pull an air drill and do some tillage. Looking for a good long term value.

Gleaner K 3-row cornhead
I have a gleaner K combine and would like to buy a 3-row 30 inch cornhead. A couple are coming up on sale but are for a K2. Will these fit a K? I assume they would. TIA.

Electric sprayer pump
Currently rigging a loader mount sprayer for spraying/wiping trees. Ideally want tank and pump assembly to mount on sprayer frame which slides into bucket. Boom is 3/4" with 10 nozzles. Thinking the current nozzles are 10 gallon but would probably put on 5 gallon as my ground speed will be slow. Anyway, I am puzzled as to what size and type of electric pump would be adequate and what would be a simple way to regulate pressure. Maybe I'm better off to run a pto pump and run hoses to the boom at the front. Simply boom spraying the pressure is set and forget but wiping trees I want the ability to regulate flow from the tractor so I keep the carpet just wet enough.

42 Foot Straight Cut Header
Thinking about trying to straight cut some Canola this fall with a NH 9080 and a 42 ft header. Just wondering if anyone would like to share their experience positive or negative on this.
Thanks In advance for the replies.

S Series Rotor Mod (rock bumpers)
Early 2015 at the Crop Production Show an owner operator described his solution for improving the stone trap effectiveness. (see attached)
Doubling the rasp bar mounts from 6 to 12 over the thresher end of the rotor (w/o bolt holes on added mounts) might provide an impeller to deflect material as desired. Although we can't see the mounts (all 12 same circumference) being an impediment for feeding I defer to discussion on that. (hint DHurtt et al).
There are at least another 5/6 machines hitting the field in Canada with this mod next month but this will not answer efficacy/effect in corn/beans/rice etc..
for simplicity sake, we call them rock bumpers.
Operator who visited with us claimed it did help and no feeding issue arose (one season use)

Help adx 2230?!
Hi there. Looking at a double shoot case drill. Has a tbt adx 2230 cart. Are these units reliable? Are they all electrical or the old sprocket style? Would this be a good unit. Also would my 9250 Steiger have the hydraulic gallons per minute to run it?

Y drop problems
I have recently acquired a set of y drops for a Case Patriot 4420, and the boom configuration makes me move 8 of the drops to different holders for road travel. Doing custom work in small fields, im adding almost 2 hours onto my day just moving drops. Has anybody found a way to make this easier? Or is there less moving on other sprayers?

Has The World Gone Mad ????
has the world gone mad?
we live in an age where it is generally accepted that climate change is real, a lot of countries are looking at reducing carbon & increasing renewable forms of energy, & we appear to be more conscious than ever about looking after our natural resources & environment
In Australia ( a land with LOTS of sunshine, open spaces & wind ) our Prime Minister recently stated that he opposed renewable energy due to the fact he found wind turbines unsightly. He also made a BIG point about reducing R-E-D-U-C-I-N-G ( his words ) our renewable targets.
Yesterday, his Environment Minister gave Federal approval to a massive open cut mine ( 3 pits, mine area 35sq km ) on the Liverpool Plains in New South Wales, some of the best quality country in Australia, maybe even the world.
Local farmers have been fighting this for about 8 years, when an exploration licence was granted by the then Labour State government & the corrupt Minister Ian McDonald.
This area is deep alluvial black soil country, with very high quality & yielding water aquifers, inter connected with the riverine & floodplain systems. The actual mining area is not on the black soil, but on the sandstone ridge country. These sandstone ridges are the recharge zones for the aquifers.
The miner involved is Shenua, a massive Chinese government owned company.
Australia has recently signed a Free Trade Deal with China, so presumably Chinese labour can be brought in to build / operate the mine cheaper than the locals
Our local Federal Member of Parliament is also the Federal Minister for Agriculture & he is powerless ( apparently ) to do anything about it
China's stock market is in freefall , hard commodity prices are dropping & the world is moving away from coal
Is it just me?
Or has the world ( or our part of it anyway ) gone completely stark raving mad????????????

Aftermarket HID light problem
I have a weird situation with some aftermarket HID lights on a few different pieces of equipment, maybe someone will be able to help me.
I have some various HID lights, one is a DDM Tuning 55W HID light and the other is some brand I have no idea of, one of those "all in 1" HID lights where the ballast is the back part of the bulb.
Here's the weird thing, we bought the "all in 1" bulbs a couple of years ago for our 9760 combines since they didn't come with the overpriced JD HID package. These lights are better than halogen but they still provide a very yellow light. I bought the DDM HID quite a few years ago for our 9420, also ordered without the overpriced JD "Fieldvision" lights. Now I bought 4 and only used 3, so I have a spare. The 3 I installed in the 9420 quite a few years ago have worked flawless and they provide a much nicer light than the "all in 1" bulbs. They are 5000K bulbs so the light is very white where the "all in 1" ones are pretty yellow still.
Ok, essay aside here's the issue. On the 9420 the DDM lights have been working fine since I installed them. Today I took my spare DDM and replaced one of the "all in 1" HID's on the combine to see if there was a significant difference, which there is. So I am going to buy DDM HID conversion kits for the two combines, but that leaves me with 4 "all in 1"s that are kinda yellow but still better than halogen.
So I was going to install those in the fender lights on the 9420, so I plugged the one I took off the combine into one of the lights on the fender of the 9420 and it won't light up. It's weird because it worked fine on the combine 5 minutes earlier. So I took the DDM light off the combine and plugged that into the fender of the 9420. Same story, no light.
This was confusing since I have the exact same DDM HID's in the nose of the 9420 and they work fine. This lead me to try both of them, the DDM and the all in 1 in one of the light housings on our 4710 sprayer. Same there, the HID's will not light up.
So to try even further, I plugged both the HID's into the cab lights on our A400 swather. They lit up right away, no problem.
This is highly confusing to me. I'm assuming it's some sort of voltage drop or something due to the longer wiring but that doesn't really make much sense to me. Why do they work fine on the combines and the swather and even in the nose of the 9420 that originally just had a regular 9005 halogen bulb, but not on the back?
Wow, that was a long post... Is my only solution to run a power wire to the back of the 9420 and have the lights come on via a relay? I don't think I want HID light that badly.

Pea augers are they worth it?
Hey guys, dad's debating on purchasing a pea auger for our honeybee 94c, it's really the first year that we will be straight cutting peas with a draper, we always either swathed or used the old rigid when we had our tx66. What are your guys experience?

GoodYear tire failure?
Has anybody had any failures with goodyear combine tires? 800/70R/38's? with 500 hrs on our combines the side walls are cracking out. I don't see them making it through harvest this year. These tires are stored inside except for two weeks during harvest. This is the second time we have had issues with goodyear tires and we will notbe running them in the furture. Poor product and very very poor support.
